Lamborghini Centenario: An Invitation-Only Hypercar

Unveiled in 2016 to commemorate the 100th birthday of Lamborghini founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini, the Lamborghini Centenario was a limited-production car based on the Lamborghini Aventador SV. A total of 40 models, 20 coupés and 20 roadsters, were sold via invitation only to selected customers at an asking price of £1.75 million.

The Centenario is powered by the same Aventador 6.5 litre V12 petrol engine with 760 bhp and mated with a 7-speed ISR transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 mph is an astonishingly fast 2.8 seconds, and the car delivers a top speed of 217 mph - on par with the Aventador SV.

The Centenario is the first Lamborghini to have three exhausts and to deploy rear-wheel steering. It also features the largest rear diffusers to ever be incorporated into a car, which extend 150mm and rotate nearly 15 degrees at high speeds. The wheels have specifically designed spokes, accented in carbon fiber, that fan air into the carbon ceramic brakes and increase the suction on the rear diffuser.

The entire body of the Centenario is built entirely from carbon fiber composites and is packed with advanced aerodynamics. Even the interior is mostly finished in carbon fiber with Alcantara accents and has new stitching on the steering wheel, dashboard, sun visors, and inner door panels.

The Centenario was the first Lamborghini to use the new infotainment system, which includes sophisticated telemetry software to record driving data and top speeds.
